Flameless candles are perfect for adding the glow of candlelight safely and beautifully.

Every day we hear in the news of house fires caused by an unattended candle. It is of extreme importance that you never burn a candle unless you will be around.

If you have a display that needs to be lit and on display all the time a battery operated LED pillar candle or and electric candle are the better alternative.

Personally, I dont like the artificial-ness of battery candles but they do have their place.

If you intend to use candles with a naked flame, please follow a few simple steps that will prevent the unthinkable...a fire in your home.....

• Use a hurricane holder to protect the flame or
• Ensure your candleholder has a wide stable base
• Keep candles away from curtains and other flammable items
• Keep candles out of breezes
• Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets
• Set yourself an alarm to remind you to extinguish your candle before you leave the house or go to bed
• Extinguish your candle flame with a proper candle snuffer. (Blowing it out can also reduce the effectiveness and long life of your candle).

Whatever them you have at home white should go with it and don’t be afraid to use it with other color candles. White pillar candles mixed with light pastel color candles makes your display look more fun and energetic. It makes the pastels stand out more. At Christmas the reds and greens can get a bit heavy, so mix in some white pillar candles with your red and green pillar candles for a lighter, softer effect.

The combination is not something you might think of for a wedding but the effect was amazing and memorable!

Black pillar candles of course are also used in gothic and medieval themes.

Whilst not widely used, black pillar candles have an awesome impact.
